Cinematography: Kink(SF)
Working with Limitation always a challenge for indie cinematographer. when we have limitation on time, budget and manpower etc. Working in such a small amount of time require the best plan as possible.
Over head Diagram if the best tool out there to help cinematographer to communicate with Director and all crew members. especially for me as a Thai Cinematographer when my English is not my first languages.
This short first we so lucky as always when we had small crews.However, the best in every positions. Start from talented Director who have good knowledge of cinematography make the whole project went very Smoot when Director and Cinematographer speaking the same language.
Mood of this short film. just to sum up from my interpretation from script. “Dangerously beautiful flower” I always trying to summary and have very short quote idea about how I feel and how I would want the audience to feel. the shorter is the better so I can use this quote idea every step of work from pre production to filming. Every decision I made form Camera Work to Lighting are base on my short quote idea.
Camera work. “Dangerously beautiful flower” I choose Alexa Mini. with Cooke mini S4i set. 18,25,35,50,75,100 mm. Filter BPM. 1/8 , 1/4. I always manage my choice base on budget I have for the film and the best possible after I think through the whole three budget Camera,Grip,Electric I allow to spend.
Grip work “Dangerously beautiful flower” Base on Man Power and location I have 2 Ton Grip Package And Fisher Dolly to move around the space and get dolly shots we want for the film. I always find my self max out grip work trying to shape the shot as much as time allowed me. My believe is “ Most of the time we can not afford to have or use proper light to lit the scene. However, I can use my Brian and plan to find alternative way to work around from what we have available light and shape them with grip gears”
Electric work “Dangerously beautiful flower” Again base on budget and crate need I Always give my Self a chance to spade out number of fixture need base on my understanding of category A. Point source. I have (2) etc Source 4 (1) Arri light kit(750,650,300) B.Soft Source.I have (1) LiteMat 4(1) LiteMat1 (1) LitePanel3KitBi-color. C.Tube source. I have RGB 4ft Triton tubes 8Kit. with theses A,B,C category I have. I by my self and opportunity to light scene in any condition FYI except the inventory I have right now non of them wouldn’t able to fight with the actual sun light. so I have to make a plan to embrace the available sun light through the interior day scenes by choosing Tim of day to shoot when I don’t have Direct sun light in my shot to mess with continuity. and Use Grip works to shape the light to the look we want to achieved.
